I Love Moving Company offers different transportation options – with our international moving services to Australia, you can choose to move by sea or select a move by air. There are a few key differences between moving your belongings by sea or by air when you are moving internationally. The most obvious difference is cost – shipping by sea is generally much cheaper than flying your belongings overseas. However, it can take weeks or even months for your shipment to arrive by boat, so if you’re in a hurry to get settled into your new home, air shipping may be the better option.
Another difference to consider is the amount of stuff you need to move. If you have a lot of heavy furniture or a large number of boxes, it may be more cost-effective to ship by sea. On the other hand, if you only have a few small items, flying them over might be the better choice. Additionally, sea shipping may be the more practical option if you’re relocating the entire household, as there are no weight or size restrictions like there are with airlines.
Full Container Load
When moving overseas, a full container load (FCL) will typically be more expensive than a shared container service (or less container load), but it offers a number of advantages. With an FCL shipment, you will have exclusive use of the entire container, so you can pack it exactly how you want, and there is no need to worry about your belongings being damaged by other cargo. FCL shipments are also generally faster and more reliable, as they are not subject to delays caused by waiting for other consignments to be loaded or unloaded.
Less Container Load
If you are moving a large number of goods, or if you have delicate or valuable items that you want to keep safe, then an FCL shipment may be the best option for you. However, if you are on a tight budget or your move is not time-sensitive, then an LCL service could be a more cost-effective solution. It implies that you’ll share the container with other cargo.
There are a few things to consider when deciding whether or not to use LCL shipping:
- How much stuff do you have? If you have a lot of items, it may be more affordable to ship them all in one container.
- How big are your items? If you have large items, they may not fit in a standard container.
- How much time do you have? LCL shipping can take longer than FCL shipping since your items will need to be consolidated with other
- shipments.
